World of Warcraft Hunter
Guide
A Hunter in World of
Warcraft is a pretty versatile class. They have a nice
variety of talents as well as a variety of pets that you
can use. Each pet can have a different purpose. Personally
I have found that I can level a hinter faster than any
other class. Having the pet gives you a very nice
advantage and many times you can do group quests on your
own. This will be a basic World of Warcraft Hunter
Guide.
Starting Out
The key to success with this class and any class is knowing
what role you personally are best at. Sometimes how you play a
certain character will depend on your own personal strengths.
The abilities of the hunter can vary quite a bit and each one
will suit you a different way. The hunter class has many
strengths and weaknesses and the way you use them will make all
the difference.

What a hunter excels at: Ranged warfare, including the use
of bows, guns or crossbows. Having a ranged attack allows you
to stay further away from damage. Tracking abilities is a
definite plus with a hunter, whether it be animals or treasure
it is nice to have. If spec'd right you can use the pet as a
tank and you as the healer, this allows the pet to take the
damage and you to stand away from danger and use your gun or
bow.
What they don’t excel at: Melee fighting is the most
problematic for the hunter class. You will be wearing leather
until level 40 when you can start wearing tougher armor.
Although you will have melee abilities a hunter is best from a
ranged position.
Now that you have a bit of understanding of what hunter's
can and can't do you can start to put together a strategy for
success. You will want to make sure that you are picking a pet
for it's abilities more than just how it looks. Each one will
serve a different purpose in how it does damage or takes
damage. And remember that you want to stay away from the fight
and let the pet do the close combat.
Picking a Profession for Your Hunter
Now that you’ve decided to play this class, you’re going to
need to pick a profession that works well with a hunter’s
abilities. Normally as a class that wears leather you would
think of skinning and leatherworking to make your own armor.
But, after level 40 you will no longer be wearing leather. So
this may not be ideal. And if you go with mining and
blacksmithing you will not be able to wear what you create
until after level 40.
Personally I went with mining and engineering. This allows
you to make many of the weapons you will be using as well as
the bullets. You will also be able to make scopes for guns that
will increase damage. And there are many other bonuses that an
engineer has in making certain items.
The professions that really don’t work well with a
hunter are alchemy, tailoring or enchanting etc... These
are really useful for other classes but as a hunter it
will not benefit you as much.
The Weapons
As I mentioned previously, the hunter excels at ranged
warfare. For this you will want to focus on guns and bows. You
get some basic stuff to start out with but as you level and
complete quests you will get better weapons. If you are an
engineer you can make your weapons and scopes as well as ammo.
As I said earlier engineering can be very helpful to a
hunter.
